I would love to have been able to use the aluminum type of label but since I have ordered vinyl labels in lots of 1000 several times now, and used them all, I now know that metal labels would have been incredibly expensive. I have also been using the extra fine point black paint pens and they’re more or less permanent. The topmost part of the label (that often sticks out above the soil) will snap off long before the text fades. However, it must be oil-based paint pens. (There is some other type of solvent used in some brands, but that kind fades much more quickly.) And some brands of oil-based paint pens last much longer than others. The longest lasting labels I have had were ones made with a P-touch labelmaker black on clear tape completely covering a vinyl label. Even when the vinyl finally starts to get brittle, the label holds it together. The text never fades. I still have a few labels on plants Cathy Craig (if you remember her) gave me before PBS began that are still dark and perfectly legible. —Lee > On Jan 9, 2023, at 19:15, Christine Doud via pbs <pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> wrote: > > I have used CoolrunnerAluminum plant tags for years. It’s a double sided tag that you write on with a pen and the name becomes engraved on the tag. It can’t be erased or fade or anything like that. There is a small wire that goes into the 2 holes on the tag and affixed to the plant with a simple twist. Or it can be stuck into the soil without the wire. Amazon offers them for $8.99/50 tags. $13.99 for 100. 200 for $22.99. > They are basically permanent. > > Christine > >> On Jan 9, 2023, at 6:39 PM, Diane via pbs <pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> wrote: >> >> I saw one garden with the plant names written with paint pens as Jane described, but on rocks.
