I just finished lifting everything from one-quarter of my bulb house, where numerous species had been set about 10 years ago in a raised bed. I decided to transfer the smaller species to plunged pots and to replant the larger species directly. Over the years some species had increased much more than others, and I've removed what I noticed of extra items, and also small, unidentified bulbs. I have a big bowlful of these. If anyone wants them, I will send you a small Priority Mail box of the mixture. It will be mostly small Narcissus species (bulbocodium, romieuxii, rupicola, cantabricus, watieri), small Colchicum species, and some Crocus, Biarum, Scilla, Leucocoryne, and who knows? These enthusiastically increasing miniature species are suitable for planting under shrubs in mild-climate gardens. There are spring- and fall-flowering ones. I hate to throw them away, but I'm not physically able at present to plant them in the open garden, where, in any case, they might not survive the winters. Please write PRIVATELY, NOT TO THE LIST, to janemcgary@earthlink.net, and don't forget to include your postal address.
