Kathleen, isn't the salt a horrible poison for plants and soil? Maybe you live in a high rainfall area. In my Mediterranean climate I see salt as an enemy, unless you have some other info for me. I am even hesitant to use salt to kill invasive trees like Ailanthus by pouring it into a hole drilled in the tree. (Though I find Miracle Gro works well for that and I figure some nutrients get into the soil that way.)
