Thanks Nathan for passing this on. We were fortunate to spend time with Bob and his wife Marlene on a number of occasions and have wonderful memories of those times, including a couple of trips to South Africa. Most of you won't know that he had a great sense of humor and could tell wonderful stories leading to a lot of laughter. He was so animated when he talked about introducing children to growing plants and long past the time most people retire, was still involved with Hospice, still advising, and still giving comfort. Although Mike Mace has followed in his footsteps, his name for me will always be associated with Moraea and Calochortus. Over the years he shared many seeds. I expect a lot of people have plants that came from his seeds. Although he passed on to Mike a lot of his collection, the last time I saw him at his home in Ukiah he still had Calochortus pots. He will be missed by all who knew him.
