I used to visit the Arnold Arboretum where a large stand of Franklinia surprisingly appeared to thrive. I think it is supposed to be a relict species; Bartram's discovery of the plant in Georgia was never repeated. I believe the plant is extinct in the wild now. The link may be helpful for those attempting to cultivate the plant in their garden.
