*interesting.  I never knew they ate bulb leaves. I have always had some
form of lawn or grass,complete with worms and whatever else inhabits the
patch.  Buckwheat sounds like a great idea.  I have natives buckwheats -
several kinds.  What about coreopsis.  There are some tiny ones that have
tons of seeds.  *
