Hello Folks, This is very interesting I live in the Boston area and I have a clump of L. Squamigera that's more than 30 years old and has been blooming with everything our crazy weather has thrown at it. We have very humid and wet summers (sometimes dry too), wet cold winters with deep snow some years or mild winters with no snow. I really do nothing special with them and they're growing in regular well drained garden soil in full sun. In the early spring I give everyone a scattering of slow release granular fertilizer and that seems to work. There a lot of people up here who do have problems getting it to bloom, and they usually are growing it in cool shade and maybe more water than needed. In our northern clime, my best clump grows in full sun. The "trick" I think is a warmer, and maybe dryer summer. This is exactly the season we have had this year - drier, and certainly warmer than most summers. I don't think humidity is a factor.
