Apparently the local gophers like tangy things. They just ate (the bulbs under) half a dozen big clumps of Oxalis purpurea, as well as all the Oxalis obtusa that I didn't have in pots set in the ground. They also browsed the tops of a California poppy (and at least some of the roots). At least they haven't cultivated a taste for geophyte aroids. Anyway, feeding stations set up in tunnels with a banquet of the three flavors of gopher treats I have. Argh.
