Here's a species that flowered for me for the first time over the weekend - L. oxypetalum var. insigne - at least that's what the seeds were labeled. It's not as pink/purple as var. insigne and not as yellow as the type species of oxypetalum. Could it be a natural hybrid between the two, or just showing natural variability, or is it just that the plant is immature, flowering for the first time, and that petal colors will change in subsequent years? It is spotted, as it should be, and with a purple blush on the outside of the lemon-colored petals. I have another seeding that will hopefully form a flower this year, but that one is at least four weeks behind. I should add that these are from seeds planted early 2018. The plant is about 9" high and the flower petals are maybe 1" long. I have grown it in a pot in a cold-frame to protect from winter wet thus far. Is anyone else growing this species and can maybe comment further? Thanks and best regards, Steve Willson Bow, WA Zone 8b -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
