I've never tried it in early spring but my gut tells me this is the worst time for digging/shipping tall-bearded irises. Their natural cycle makes mid-summer the ideal time. If you can find local takers for your rhizomes get them planted in their gardens as soon as possible. In summer, they can stay un-planted for weeks/months with minimal impact to their bloom cycle. I can't imagine what disturbing them at this time of year will do their bloom cycle. (Probably no problems if you can get them replanted right away?) At this time of year aphids and iris borer would be nearly impossible to detect and could be accidentally spread. Iris borer eggs are probably hatching right now in some parts of the country. They'll be tiny! These are very beautiful light purple, tall and fragrant and I'm wondering if I should send them to Luminita and if anyone would like some. > > Warm Regards and Thanks, > Fred > _______________________________________________ > pbs mailing list > pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net > http://lists.pacificbulbsociety.net/cgi-bin/… > Unsubscribe: <mailto:pbs-unsubscribe@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> > _______________________________________________ pbs mailing list pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net http://lists.pacificbulbsociety.net/cgi-bin/… Unsubscribe: <mailto:pbs-unsubscribe@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net>
