I used to suffer from gout; it got to the point sometimes when I couldn't even put on shoes for a few days. I once tried colchicine, the only time I know of when the cure is worse than the disease. For some reason, my doctor never prescribed allopurinol. A friend told me about it, so I told my doctor to prescribe it. (Yes, told, not asked.) I have been taking allopurinol for many years now, and have not suffered from gout since. I don't know if that's the correct name or even if the epithet is correct. Colchicine was prescribed for my husband's gout. We have since discovered the better alternative, at least for him, is lime juice which dissolves uric acid, the culprit in gout. Lesson for the day. Looking forward to the issue.
