Hello Fred, I can confirm that Picasso is not the most flagrant Hippeastrum out there. Try instead Jewel, Rebecca, Amputo, Giant Amadeus and the classical Apple Blossom. There are a few more, but can't remember the names. For me personally, Amputo then Rebecca have the strongest flagrance. Also, sometimes new bulbs will have a weaker scent in their 1st flowering, only to be much stronger in their 2nd year or later. I did notice this on Jewel and on other doubles. Perhaps it has to do with poor rooting during their very 1st flowering. I know some of the papillo strains are said to be fragrant, and of course A. belladonna. But I was counting on a fragrant bloom from A. ‘Picasso". Anyone have any similar experience with Amaryllis ?
