When i seen too many Sciarids i have picked a few egg cocoons from a spider, Meta menardi and let them hatch among the plants (one cocoon can contain over 100 young spiders). After a while she small spiders settle among the plants and make their webs. They usually starts to go very high, but after a while some of them settle low in the foliage and are rather successful in trapping the Sciarids. Perhaps not so very efficient, but at least keeps the Sciarid population on a manageable level. All the best from northern Sweden, where we received another 60 cm of snow last week. /Åke -----Original Message----- From: pbs <pbs-bounces@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> On Behalf Of Peter Taggart via pbs Sent: den 11 januari 2021 18:31 To: Pacific Bulb Society <pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net> Cc: Peter Taggart <petersirises@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [pbs] Worsleya seed/sciarids A vacume cleaner can help, also using a fine grit rather than humus on the top of the pot.
