Another note - I recently switched from big box store vermiculite to a coarser vermiculite I pick up from greenhouse and organic farm supply stores. I think the new vermiculite is only rated medium-course, but this coarser grade has meant fewer drowned, dessicated, moldy and camouflaged seeds...especially for seeds like Fritillaria and Trillium that need the better part of a year to germinate. -joe in SW VA On Sun, Jan 24, 2021, 7:25 PM Joe G <joseph.andrew.gorman@gmail.com> wrote: > Don, > > I germinate L. grayi (when I can get it!) the same way I do L. canadense > and their intergrade, L. x pseudograyi - two to three months moist > stratification at room temperature followed by two or three months cold > stratification in the fridge. > > I try to sow Lilium and Fritillaria when the seeds would be ripe, no > matter when I get them, so that leaf emergence happens right when they'd be > coming up in the wild.
