Ottoline - the plant you have is unequivocally L. viridiflora, so yes, rest
assured others' opinions were correct. One of the best methods for detailed
and accurate pollination for small species is the use of micro applicators
(used in the dentistry industry). I've used these for the past decade, and
I would never go back to paint brushes, even fine tipped ones.
Particularly for genera where the anthers and pistil are in close proximity
like Lachenalia, where you are trying to avoid touching any unwanted pollen
to the applicator tip.
