Diane I'm not sure they are desert species but I grow a couple of Leucocoryne. I find them relatively easy. Come into growth late winter and flower in early to mid spring. I find that they tolerate the heat in the greenhouse well as it heats up in spring time with higher outside temperatures and longer days. Stenomesson grows outside in pots during spring and summer and flowers well with no special treatment. it's kept protected in winters on the lower shelf of the greenhouse.
