Good Morning, I need your help. The PBS Board meets next Sunday and if anyone has any information regarding topics listed below, please email me directly or to the list, whichever works. If anyone has an update on the current situation with regard to mailing seed internationally, please respond. The PBS Board is attempting to continue developing strategies that will allow PBS to continue distributing seed world-wide. The EU bulb and seed exchange is one example of a response to increasing restrictions, but we continue to need updated information in order to plan ahead. At this point, Johannes Urban in Portugal said non-EU seed is being blocked from entering Portugal. Is this the case with any other countries? We know there are restrictions among individual non-EU countries, but need to make sure we have up-to-date information. There is a list of countries the US is not allowed to send any items to at all. If anyone needs that list, please contact me directly at bulbnut@hansennursery.com. The UK is allowing seed into the country without a phyto until the end of the year. Any word on attempts at exempting small lots of seed as the US does? Or any other accommodations for amateur gardeners? The US Postal Service now requires (this from my local office) that sending seed to the UK be in a flat photo-type mailing envelope (stiff and 8x10" or so) with enough room to put all documents, postage, customs stickers, etc. on one side. Whether all US post offices are following these rules is another story, plus the all-knowing non-governmental person who is now running the USPS is determined to slow internal mail down. He forgets this is not a business but a service of the US government. I do not believe the PBS is in a position to support multiple seed exchanges world-wide, so any information you can provide to facilitate our current system is appreciated.
