This is one of the few (non-tree) plants in my garden that was here 30 years ago before we bought the house in Berkeley, Northern California, and is still flourishing. Over the years I've come to think it is a Crinum moorei - is that correct? Interestingly, it has done well in mottled, bright shade. (Or perhaps I have no idea how very well it would have done in the sun!) The entire clump will slump to the ground after flowering, then it perks up, lefiting its leaves like a skirt, when the flower bulbs are about to emerge. The flower stems are so long (3-4 feet) that they cannot support themselves, despite being thick and hard - perhaps more vertical flower stalks would be the change that would occur in the sun? I'm reluctant to move such an old, stable plant but perhaps I can dig out one of the outer bulbs and try it in the sun.
