This clump of bulbs was here 30 years ago when we bought our house in Berkeley, Northern California, and it is still flourishing. Over the years I've come to think it is a Crinum moorei - is that correct? Interestingly, it has done well in mottled, bright shade. The entire clump will slump to the ground after flowering, then it perks up, lifting its leaves into a skirt shape, when the flower bulbs are about to emerge. The flower stems are so long (3-4 feet) that they cannot support themselves, despite being thick and hard - perhaps more vertical flower stalks would be the change that would occur in the sun? I'm reluctant to move such an old, stable plant but perhaps I can dig out one of the outer bulbs and try it in the sun.
