Linalool is the most significant floral fragrance component common to
both Freesia and many Amaryllidaceae species. This is the same
volatile compound produced by lavender and found to be responsible
for lavender's calming, antianxiety properties. Sadly, experimental
mice whose sense of smell was blocked, did not benefit from the
relaxing effects of inhaled linalool.
