Dear Jim,

Your note re the x Howardia reminded me that I had intended to write
now, at the end of Lycoris season, to say again how much I've enjoyed
the bulbs from those imports you managed so long ago now. As I have told
many people, my only regret about them is that I did not acquire scads
more at that time. On several occasions I've had people stop, pull in
the driveway, and come up to the door to ask about the ones out front.
So, thanks again. I'll be passing along starts of a couple of species to
others again this year as soon as I collect seeds and they're fully
dormant.

I didn't realize Zephyranthes, Sprekelia, and Hippeastrum were
interfertile. Maybe I'll try something when the Sprekelia flower next. I
certainly haven't had any luck crossing the two plants I have with each
other.

Hope you are staying safe and healthy in these crazy times. Best from
Cathy.

Steve

This is a very rare triple hybrid between a Rain Lily (Zephyranthes) crossed with a Mexican Aztec lily (Sprekelia) and this hybrid crossed with an Amaryllis (Hippeastrum). The resulting flower resembles a brilliant red Rain Lily. Not widely grown or available, it is believed to be hardy to at least Zone 7, but should grow where ever Rain Lilies are happy.

If you are interested please send email ONLY to jwaddick@kc.rr.com and we can deal. I grow a wide range of hardy and tropical plants, bulbs, perennials and would expect something equally special from interested traders. Tempt me.
