Hello PBS folks, I'm a subscriber to the PBS list but not (yet) a member. I noticed the discussion around changing to a new list management platform. I agree with the sentiment that the right platform should balance ease of use and maintenance with the substantial value that comes from having a long-term archive. The lack of a usable long-term archive is a major objection to using Facebook. And more generally, concerns about monetization of personal activity are another count against using Facebook or Google to manage this type of group. (As a non-Facebook user, I would no longer follow this list.) People at other non-profit groups I'm connected with have faced similar challenges recently, and there have been several recommendations for Groups.io as a good alternative. They appear to be committed to not including any ads or doing any tracking of members. It looks like there are three levels of service: Basic (free), Premium ($20/month) and Enterprise ($200/month). To be clear, I don't have direct personal experience of Groups.io (good or bad) and I have no connection with the company. It just seems it might be worth taking a look at whether what they offer might meet PBS's needs. Kind regards, Rupert Clayton Oakland, CA _______________________________________________ pbs mailing list pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net http://lists.pacificbulbsociety.net/cgi-bin/… Unsubscribe: <mailto:pbs-unsubscribe@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net>
