 Steps to identify easily:
1.  Go go inaturalist.org
2.  Click explore
3.  Type Gesner under "Species" until the family Gesneria comes up.  Select that.
4.  Type Costa Rica in location  (you could type Quepos but that might be too tight a search)
5.  Review photos of gesneria near the location in question.  You can click on each identification and it will show you what was observed at that site.

My guess from quick review - perhaps Kohleria tubiflora

Is anyone on the list good at identifying central American gesneriads?  If
so, please contact me off-list.  I would love to have a name for a
red-flowered gesneriad that I photographed last year growing on sea-side
rocks near Quepos, Costa Rica.

Thanks.
