Hi John, While I see the shortcomings of the mailing list (especially since most people these days use some web-mail services instead of a good mail program filtering and sorting stuff), I strongly dislike the loss of control a move to Facebook would bring. The list is under complete control members of the PBS, and not in the hand of a company following commercial interests. The loss of yahoo groups has already taught lots of (horticultural and other) organizations a lesson: any company can change any policy at any time. If we'd leave the mailing list behind, I'd vote for a solution as independent and open source as possible - that would be the opposite of Facebook. I'd really love to be able to keep up with bulb information and a Facebook group is an ideal place for those discussion. I'm here for people wanting to discuss bulb subject matter but not for the virtue signaling of who is better than whom and it's not realistically possible through an email forum to filter out the virtue signaling from the salient plant content without risking loss of good content from otherwise good contributors. If you need help setting up a facebook group to replace this exchange I'm happy to assist. > > Thanks,John 8B > -- Martin ---------------------------------------------- Southern Germany Likely zone 7a _______________________________________________ pbs mailing list pbs@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net http://lists.pacificbulbsociety.net/cgi-bin/… Unsubscribe: <mailto:pbs-unsubscribe@lists.pacificbulbsociety.net>
