A forum befitting our group

Perhaps we're putting too much emphasis on the archiving aspect.  Newbies ask lots of questions at plant club meetings, and they get answers.  If someone else asks the same or similar question at the next meeting, it gets answered again.  That's easier than trying to tape record all the conversations at all the meetings so someone can dig around for the last time that question was answered.
If we encourage people to be specific in their subject line, most people can blow it off without opening and the few members who have a ready answer can respond.  A subject like: Can I Grow (genus)(species) in Nashville would be easy for the right person to respond constructively and everyone else to ignore.
Do we really get that many questions that only a long-dead member could have answered, and did answer somewhere in the archives?  I'm a relative newcomer and I am continually amazed at the depth of knowledge that pops up quickly for even the most arcane questions.

I agree that there has been a lot of thoughtful information that passes
through emails that does not make it to the wiki. That information is
available in the archives, but it does require some searching. Over the
years we have been unable to interest more than a few of us to add
content to the wiki. We are open to new volunteers who would like to add
comments from the discussions about how to grow different genera and
species. In the past when we have brought this up we haven't had any takers.
