Dell asked: >Does anyone have experience with using these products (like Preen) on bulb gardens.? I tried Preen for the first time this fall on two raised bulb beds that have been almost overrun with annual weeds. It's too early to give you a full answer, but so far I can tell you it hasn't killed everything in the bed. At least some of the bulbs (mostly a mix of Gladiolus, Moraea, and Ferraria) have sprouted normally. I need to wait a few more months before I'll be able to tell you if the overall bulb growth was affected. The impact on the weeds is also tough to determine yet. It looks like the germination of some sorts of weeds has been reduced. But I see a lot of seedlings of wild oats in part of one bed. They are supposed to be controlled by Preen, so I wonder if maybe I didn't use quite enough of it in that spot. I'll know more by next spring.
