Hello Luc, I grow it in Berlin Germany and I definitely learned the hard way that it needs protection in winter. Anything below -3 C will not kill it, but it will severely damage the leaves, which means no blooms the following year. Also, full sun all the time. Whenever it gets colder, I bring it inside on the Southern windowsill and grow it under lights, at about +15 C. About the availability, I happen to have seen it in a few gardening centers here. I am not sure if they still have it, but I can go have a look if you want? The bulbs were not expensive and there were big, with good shots too. Cheers,Vlad 7b, Berlin (Germany), finally some sun after 8 days with drizzle.
