I still use imidicloprid very sparingly as a granular against root mealy bugs, but I would not be surprised to see it eventually removed from retail use if not completely from all use because of the devastating loss of pollinating bees nearly everywhere. I've been using it primarily on perennials that are not insect pollinated but there are other methods of getting rid of mealies, it's just they are much more time-consuming or use other pesticides, many if not all, that are toxic to our tiny animal friends. Neonics are mentioned but they bring their own problems....
