Hi Chad: I grew these years ago. I sowed them the usual way for me, putting them in a plastic bag in damp vermiculite in the fall. They germinated very easily, and I had a pot full of seedlings. They went dormant in the spring. The following year about five seedlings came back, so I thought I had lost the others. The next winter, something like ten came back. So after they went dormant, I tipped out the pot and they were all there, about 20-30 bulbs, of varying size since some had not broken dormancy for a couple of years. Apparently, this is normal, and the bulbs can remain dormant for years, some emerging, others staying dormant. In the move from Oroville to the coast I lost them, so I never was able to get them to maturity. Diana > Hi everyone, > > I just received my Hesperocallis seeds in the mail (thank you Luminita!) and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for successfully getting these from germination to full-size plants? I have heard that they are easy to germinate but difficult thereafter. If anyone has any experience with these I would greatly appreciate any advice or tips that you could offer. Thank you! > > Chad Cox in Elverta CA Where last week it was summer and now it’s back to early spring again... > > Sent from my iPhone > Chad L.
