Jude, Jim, Arthur, et al, One of my Boophone haemanthoides is in full bloom now, and another 3 bulbs currently pushing buds. IMO, they tend to be self-infertile. However. you can stimulate seed set with the pollen of B.disticha (or possibly certain other Amaryllids.) I did so in 2017, 18 & 19, and also on a friends plant back in 2013. Here's a shot of the one B.haemanthoides currently in bloom. I've again been brushing the heck out of it with pollen from B.disticha. My other 3 buds rising (and perhaps 2 more) should bloom concurrently and will be cross-pollinated. I have 9 of 10 original plants, grown from 2007 Silverhill seed … 5 bulbs bloomed last year, so I am hoping for more in 2020.. Ken Blackford On Thursday, June 25, 2020 ...
