Yes Mike I have the same idea, that the tiny pots experience less damped swings of day to night temperatures. I considered planting some ibutton thermistors to measure this. The soil thermistor attaches to my weather station could serve as the control sample, the biggest planting container. Even there the day/night amplitude is sufficient to trigger Moraea germination, evidenced by the abundant tufts of Moraea polyanthos which escaped seed pod harvest. Of the many benefits of growing from seed, it is said the gene pool will self select as matches local growing conditions. Thus overly manipulating temperature, light, and moisture could negate that effect. I admit I coddle my seedlings. But I also try to limit my choice of species to ones not needing too far altered growing conditions.
