Regarding Arum and similar aroids (Helicodiceros, Biarum, Dracunculus, etc.), I have found these plants to be consistently unhappy in pots. Plants of Arum and Helicodiceros that remained small and undeveloped for years-- though they had plenty of soil volume and were treated as well as any other bulbs-- grew dramatically larger when planted in the ground in semi-shade. In a few years, a potted "runt" of H. muscivorus became a nice flowering clump. Some plants simply do not flourish in containers, for whatever reasons. Dylan *"Reason is itself a matter of faith. It is an act of faith to assert that our thoughts have any relation to reality at all."* ~ Gilbert K.
