There were several calls for censure of all taxonomic changes made in Global Taxonomy. A rather stern letter condemning the way Christenhusz et al (2018) went about publishing was published by the American Society of Plant Taxonomists. What was particularly upsetting to many was that this publication compromised dissertation work by Ph.D. students about to publish (e.g., my former student Nicolás Garcia, for one). Moreover, the authors mostly didn't alert long time specialists in various groups what they were planning to do, and where they did, were rather callous in their approach )i.e., "either you do it or we're going to"). I think Nico and I were very restrained in our response in his Taxon paper. When I saw Michael Fay and Maarten in Brazil shortly after Global Taxonomy appeared, I was quite straightforward about how it was difficult not to take their sojourn into Amaryllidaceae personally, especially given that Fay and I have a rather wrought history (which I thought we'd transcended).
