Here are the only comments I have found (but I’ve only looked in six books so far)

from Rocky Mountain Alpines. the big book for Alpines ’86 by the American Rock Garden Society and Denver Botanic Garden

An article on growing Sisyrinchiums in the Czech Republic:

“ S. idahoense v macounii ( S. macounii) is considered very nice but seems not to be hardy in winter.”

So, I wonder if searching for S. macounii will be more successful.

from Ingwersen’s Manual of Alpine Plants:
“ idahoense. The erect stems can vary in height ffom 6 to 17 in. and carry deep blue flowers.”
