>Lyndon asked about one of the Rocky Mountain Calochortus species. I've >always found these continental-climate species difficult to germinate >too. However, seed purchased from Alplains in the past 2 years has done >well. I’ve had excellent germination with all species offered by Alplains; seeds mixed with damp, coarse sand, put in a freezer bag in the vegetable drawer of the refrigerator. Germination occurs in one to four months. Aftercare is a bit of a different story; rabbits are very find of calochortus leaves. But I have thirty-two seed pots, indoors, full of possibly-alive calochortus bulbs from Alplains seed, just from last year.
