I am deeply saddened by the loss of Cameron McMaster. He was a remarkable man who truly enriched my life. I went on two trips with him one to the Eastern Cape, and the other to the Western Cape and Namaqualand. He was so passionate and keen on showing me South Africa’s otherworldly flora and spectacular fauna. He provided unique experiences to remote areas engaging the local people. To say he was knowledgeable would be an understatement. When he came to Canada to visit his daughter he would also visit me. Last year he came for a visit but I was very ill in the hospital and did not get the chance to see him. To cheer me up as I was recovering he mailed me some CD’s of flora he had complied for me. He will be deeply missed by me and many others around the world who were fortunate enough to meet this remarkable man. His legacy, love and contributions to the botanical world will endure.
