I agree with Bob Nold's assessment. *Ornithogalum magnum* is also just starting to bloom here in the Pacific Northwest. It is naturalizing in my garden, even while cutting off most of the seed heads. It goes *so *much against my nature to cut it down in paths or unwanted areas, but otherwise I have to walk on it, or step (or leap) over it until it goes dormant. Here, the foliage desiccates as it blooms.
