Shmuel, Sisyrinchium bellum is native to my area here in California (SF Bay Area). It is native to a large range of habitats - coastal and inland. This might explain some of the diversity of growing suggestion you've found. I most often see it in growing in heavy-soiled grasslands or rocky areas where taller grasses cannot shade it out. These areas can be very wet during the winter rainy season and they will often retain soil moisture through spring or later. These areas dry in summer, however, and most plants go dormant, or nearly so, by the end of summer. So I would expect the plants to decline as summer arrives. And it is declining as all the pthers have. Whether in the ground or pots, they just never seem to be happy. I have heard they like a dry summer, that they like moist soil, full sun, part shade and everything else you can imagine. (well maybe not everything). I live in Jerusalem which is roughly Sunset zone 21. Any advice is greatly appreciated. The leaves of this one are gone, but I hope the rhizome is OK.
