There is far too much Trial By Hysteria in the world, The "Western World" prides it's-self on democracy and the rule of law by fair principals, but it's media, and people in general, regularly forget their principals in a rush to create scandal and victimise suspected miscreants, regardless of the rule of law or principles such as "innocent until proven guilty". I think that Jim Waddick's comment is very sensible.
