Well I move it around, depending on what it's doing. For awhile now it's been shaded by some other pots because the sun is so low and to the south, but it's starting to produce foliage so I'll move it into the sun now. It's been getting watered because we had a small rain and the pots around it are being watered. When I say sporadic watering, I mean we might or might not be paying attention to it after the foliage dies off. Usually I would let it dry out for the fall after flowering and it would be in the sun then. Sorry if this isn't very definitive, but I hope it helps. As i said, though, I'm not sure if A. shawii is similar culturally to your plant. Good luck. I hope you can get another one and try again.
