Once placed in Family Amaryllidaceae is one of my favorite natives, Hypoxis hirsuta. It only grows a few inches tall and produces lovely yellow flowers. It is, of course, perfectly hardy. :-) Apparently taxonomists recently created a new family for it, Hypoxidaceae. But I still like to think of it as a perfectly hardy amaryllid. :-P Taxonomists always trying to spoil my fun... Dennis in Cincinnati
