Hymenocallis, other Amarillids

In the Spring of 2014, I bought two bulbs of Hymenocallis 'Festalis'. Both bulbs were planted very deeply, around a foot deep, in raised beds with stone block walls. One was planted in a bed with a Northern exposure, that bed is permanently shaded in Winter but receives intense afternoon sun in Summer. The other bulb was planted in south facing bed that gets sun all Winter and afternoon shade in the Summer. Both flowered well last year, but only the one with the southern exposure has returned.

I wanted to share this, because it's always interesting to me when we can push the limits of a not terribly hardy bulb. 'Festalis' is rated for zone 8, according to most sources, and I live at the cold end of zone 7. I wonder what other Amarillids could survive here?
