Dear Friends, This has been a crazy year - cool and damp spring, followed by more than wet and now super hot and humid)THI of 115 +) . I was watering tomatoes and saw a single Lycoris chinensis/longituba hybrid stalk in full bloom. One in a bed of many, but only one up and visible. Very odd …so I looked around and found multiple stalks of L. sanguinea kiusiana up with buds showing color. L. sanguinea is usually the first to bloom here and on time mostly. The mostly orange smaller species is ideal for small gardens and provides impressive color in a hot season. I may have bulbs available for sale so let me know if you are interested. Couldn’t find more stalks showing, but expect them if we have a good soaking rain. Hopefully I’ll find a cool morning when I can mow the grass and weeds around these beds, but ? More to follow.
