Jude, Orobanche sp are obligate root parasites - and this one grows in the chaparral. Do you grow chaparral shrubs (like manazanita or chamise) for this to parasitize? I once brought home a Dudleya sp I found in an eroded roadcut in the Sierra and discovered after potting it that it was parasitized by a yellow Orobanche uniflora.
