There are lots of beautiful flowers to see at the UCSC Arboretum, including the largest collection of Australian Plants outside of Australia. If you haven't visited recently, you'll want to stop by the Australian Rock Garden with beautiful blue Lechenaultias and the new section of the Succulent Garden with a variety of plants. Later in the year we will have a nice display of Calochortus luteus blooming in the succulent garden next to the not quite bulbs of Dudleya subgenus Hasseanthus. Depending on who you talk to the summer deciduous Dudleya have corms or corm-like roots. Visit http://arboretum.ucsc.edu/ to learn more about the gardens and events. We sometimes have bulbs with the other flowering natives in the Front Entrance Native section at the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum. Maybe with more volunteers, we'll be able to display more of our bulbs in the future. The South Africa Proteas and Ericas are already blooming and April-June with be a good time to see the South African P incushion flowers. Stephen McCabe
