Steven, I love any plant that can take a beating. I forget what book exactly, but the author said something like, "lichen's and mosses are the most durable rock garden plants in the world". Comparing mosses to other alpines and similar plants was certainly interesting, and the fact that they can be a "seedling nursery" is also neat.
