Jim, its nice to know that early spring bulbs are blooming already in Kansas even with the rollercoaster temps. We still cant see much here in NY, due to the snow, but I do see Narcissus Rijnvelds Early sensation against the wall in my school garden, it once flowered on the last day of January but this year the leaves and buds right against the wall where some snowmelt has occurred are a mere 3 or so inches high. I haven't ever had blooming plants of it go through subzero temps, but it is a tough thing so I wouldnt be surprised if it just lays down and stands back up again when the cold abates. I also see foliage from Scilla peruviana, don't know how that will fare with more single digits later this week, but not subzero. Eranthis often come up thru the snow some years, but right now its too thick, but I think it will begin to seriously go away next week when temperatures rise, but there still is a possibility of more snow midweek, but also rain so maybe the great thaw wil l begin, finally.
