I vaguely recall these being mentioned before on PBS but can't find it in a search. At the Malvern show last week I bought what was described as "Clumping Amaryllis". It is a clump of 6 (or so) smallish bulbs, each no larger than 5cms in diameter, and rooted in a 5cms thick "slice" of peaty compost. On the stand one was in flower with typical red flowers but around half the normal Amaryllis/Hippeastrum size, on stems ~15cms high. After 7 days potted and moistened I have 5 flower buds showing so far. Near instant results ;-) Brian Whyer, Buckinghamshire, England
