Rich, What an absolutely STUNNING wild collection! At first I wondered how you resisted digging up a few fritilaria as souvenirs (yes I know it's illegal, ;) ) but then I read you'd donated the seeds so obviously didn't need to risk a bail hearing! What a treat to see that raven too! I'm new here and really enjoyed this post! karen mulhernwww.smallhousebiggarden.wordpress.com > From: sharonreevelamesa@gmail.com > Date: Sun, 18 May 2014 20:46:19 -0700 > To: pbs@lists.ibiblio.org > Subject: Re: [pbs] natural flowering > > HI Rich, > > Beautiful photos! Returning a few days ago I found them blooming in a beautiful display. These and other images are posted at my flickr channel along with images of other wildflowers, and the very beautiful setting. Here is the mass flowering of Fritilaria camschatscensis we noticed from the boat as we approached the island <https://flic.kr/p/nEeufN/>. A close up of some flowers and old seed pods. <https://flic.kr/p/nnWYRx/>. A nice image of Castilleja miniata, Fragaria virginiana and Maianthemum dilitatum that was typical of our day of botanizing on these offshore islets. <https://flic.kr/p/nnX2fv/>. > > > > Lastly on one of the islets, we ran across a solitary raven who was unafraid and acted as official manager of his 'property'. So I made this silly youtube movie of the raven and shots of our flowers. <http://youtu.be/xW0k-pL1ec4/> > > > > Incidentally, the halibut were not biting but the butter clams are wonderful. > > > > Rich H > > Now back home in Bellingham, Washington > > _______________________________________________ > > pbs mailing list > > pbs@lists.ibiblio.org > > http://pacificbulbsociety.org/list.php > > http://pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/ > > _______________________________________________ > pbs mailing list > pbs@lists.ibiblio.org > http://pacificbulbsociety.org/list.php > http://pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/
