A Japanese anemone (Anemone hupehensis or A. x hybrida) found its way into my Eucomis planting, hitch-hiking on a fern I put there, and it may turn out to be just the thing to follow the Eucomis. However, I don't know if these perennials grow well in southern California where Dee lives. They may need cooler climes. However, they like the same watering regime as the Eucomis, and they are tall enough to mask the dying foliage of the latter. Jane McGary Portland, Oregon, USA
